Kindle Content Product Manager | Amazon | Seattle, WA

Amazon has developed a number of market-leading, innovative and fast-growing digital and mobile businesses including Amazon Kindle, the revolutionary reading device and #1 best-selling product on all of Amazon, Amazon MP3, Amazon Video on Demand, iMDB, Amazon Mobile store, and Audible.

As a Product Manager in the Kindle Content group, you will help define the customer experience for content rendering for Kindle. You will participate in developing the strategy and vision for the group, and you will develop and look after roadmaps and features based on team strategy and vision. This role is inherently cross-functional, you will work closely with multiple teams to bring parts of our quality strategy to life, making the Kindle experience for Amazon.com customers unparalleled in the industry. A successful candidate will be highly analytical, able to work extremely effectively in a matrix organization, and adept at synthesizing a variety of technologies and capabilities into fast forward progress.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Define a set of high quality, simple quality approaches based on team strategy and vision
  • Develop detailed business requirements that can be used to create automation specifications and architecture
  • Create buy-in for the vision both internally and with key external partners
  • Manage prioritization and trade-offs among customer experience, performance and operational support load
  • Work closely with engineering teams and program management to deliver necessary process automation
  • Drive program launches including working with operations teams, feature owners, executives, and other team members
  • Proactively identify and resolve strategic issues that may impair the team's ability to meet strategic, financial, and technical goals

  • Knowledge of Japanese and other Asian languages is a must.
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in Product Management
  • 5+ years total experience in consumer electronics/software/wireless/Internet technologies
  • Must have good track of program execution and deliverables.

  • Engineering background and M.B.A. are desirable.
  • High attention to detail including precise and effective customer communications and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to think strategically and execute methodically.
  • Superior verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where continuous innovation is desired.
  • Composed, poised and professional demeanor.
  • History of teamwork and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done.
  • Street smarts and willingness to roll up your sleeves and do what's necessary.
  • Success in the development of targeted special offers, customer segmentation, and unique product, pricing, & promotional offers that drive the business.
  • Proven analytical and quantitative skills (includes ability to use tools such as Excel and Access); ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop project business cases.
